Are these Bullets / Projectiles?

I've had these two for some time now and still can't identify them, or even verify that they bullets / projectiles. They are 1" dia and just over 2.1/2" long; no markings. Has anyone any ideas?

1" Bullets?

Very interesting, especially what appears to be the two metal construction. Did these come from the old Vickers range?

I presume the cores are lead? Also although they look about the same, is the diameter of the brass forward and rear "driving bands" the same as the steel centre section?

Hi Tony, thanks for the interest - no these two didn't come from the old Vickers range and I've had them only 10 years or so (can't recall where they came from though). The dia is the same all up the body, brass and steel; about an inch. The core seems to be steel, but I've been having a dig around the recessed proj and there is a fairly coarse clockwise thread going into the body. Scratching around the base of the other proj with the 'flush' base suggests a similar thread there also. The plot thickens!

Aahh, if they are threaded they could well be the tops from a poker (coal fire). I have seen these made from brass/copper/Steel, probably by apprentices.
