Are AP rounds illegal?

As per the title, Ive been told by a 'shooting' friend who is a copper, and he has told me that selling AP rounds, that are inert, is illegal as they are section 5.

Can anyone clarify as I have some for sale currently.

Thanks

Charlie,

Yes, there are some recent posts on the matter, i'll try and find them for you later. It is very difficult when you start out collecting, i'm not long started myself, getting to know what is what various projectile colours etc, it's one of the main reasons i'm sticking to one cal at the moment (7.92mm) it's taken me a few months to be able to read up and identify. Although once my firearms licence gets necessary variation......

Michael

Hi Charlie1,
yes and no, if the round has been inerted by removing the propellant and inerting the primer as done with ball ammnution but leaving the steel core in the projectile then it is still illegal as you say under sec 5 as the projectile by it's self falls under section 5.
If the steel core has been removed and the above has been carried out then it is legal to own, same applies to incendiary, not 100% sure about tracer but believe they are not section 5,but most dealers that I know of will only sell tracer with the projectile componants removed.
One thing to watch for with the A/P side of things is getting hold of 'old' collections as more than liklely any A/P will still be intact,ie collected before the new(ish) section five amendments.

Cheers
Tony
