Afternoon gents

Anyone got any ideas on this piece ? I`m guessing an internal part of a blown fuse but sure someone will know exactly what it is.
50P for scale, thanks guys.

Looks like a blown back end of a No.35 rifle grenade. The releasing socket appears to be retained on the brass base by the remains of the safety pin, so perhaps the grenade was hit and exploded, or it has been disposed of as a blind or surplus to requirements.

Tom.

Yes , as Tom says , it's the base piece & set back collar from a No35 rifle grenade . Just out of interest , was it found in the UK or abroad ? Siegfreid.

Wow, that was quick, thanks very much. Just had a look online and now see exactly what it is. It was found on the Somme by Gommecourt.
Thanks again
Nige

Nige . OK , that's normal . We've found loads of them in the UK on old Home Guard ranges & there was a theory they may have been used as improvised WW2 stick grenades ! I stress , that's only a theory........
