Another Verdun found battlefield relic

Here is another relic fuze found on the Verdun battlefield by another BOCN member (look familiar Jan?). It is the German WW1 HZ14 fuze made in 1915. Knowing where it was found (as I have said time and time again) means the world to me, and something just flat out intrigues me about the Verdun battle....Dano

Morte Homme

Thanks Jan, Morte Homme has quite a place in history. Here is another favorite relic piece of mine that was found at Morte Homme. It is OBVIOUSLY empty inert and harmless. The remains of a spent M1915 German Kugel grenade, and for the moment is the only '15 Kugel left in the collection. That will soon change. This one will never leave the collection.

Mort Homme - Since the end of the "battle of Verdun" in 1916 it has been unoccupied as the town was destroyed and the land laid uninhabitable to such an extent that the decision was made not to rebuild it. The site of the commune is maintained as a testimony and the official designation is a "village that died for France." The Battle of Verdun was the bloodiest and largest battle that the world had ever seen at the time.

Even though I am from the United States the Battle of Verdun, and the Somme (60,000 casualities with 20,000 dead on the first day) intrigue me most of all First World War battles. It just turns my guts that leaders from both sides would expend so much life for so little gain. I'll name no names but we all know who these leaders? were.........Dano

Yes question mark in right place!!!!
