Bought this box from a car boot sale last weekend for £20.
Some great transfers, 2 pounder HE with tracer, 1943? it appears to be in tropical colour scheme. think top and bottom had a red band.
really tidy inside and out with all original paint.
Can anyone give me any more info?
thankyou.

Great Box, beautifully marked. Its Royal Navy for Belted 2pr Pom Pom rounds .
More details later if no one else comes up with other answers, must go to work....
Cheers
Gary

Very Nice Box, your box was filled at RNAD Bullpoint in Nov 1941 with 33 linked cartridges 24 HE and 9 Tracer. Does it still have the tin plate liner.
Richard

Yes, it does have a metallic inner liner. It's quite heavy empty, must have been a 2 man lift full I'd expect?
has paper labels on front "6 Government Explosive" and another but only visible word is "Cordite".
Think it's had the rope handles replaced with a pair of metal wires ones?
thanks for the info lads.

What makes you think the handles have been replaced ?. Naval boxes usually had wire handles.
Cheers
Gary

Wire handles are one of the "Tells" when identifying a Naval box, some of the others are:

A large letter "N" embossed on the end of the box.

Box Type, Manufacturer ID Code letters and Date of manufacture Embossed on the end of the box.

The swing swivel lock protected by the crescent cutout block of wood.

Sand coloured paint (cream or beige to us land lubbers)

What is the number stamped into the end of your box?

Hi I think the box is a C102

I will have a good look at the picture of the lid and see what info I can make out , are there any markings on the sides of the box

I've had a look, on both ends pressed in and stencilled is C102 and "N" on left side pressed in is 2/35 on front pressed in is R 1272.
Stenciled on front is "No 13" with "4" below.

I will take some more pictures and post. I find this fascinating. Thanks guys.

Very interesting box, I am interested in what mark projectile is used with the 241 fuze?? The MKIII and IV HE projectiles also don't take a base tracer, this wasn't standard fit until the HV came along. Any info anyone? cheers Tig.

Have a good look at the top of the Box

1 42 Cartridges (Rounds) Quick Firing HE MK 7

2 The earliest date is Fld ( Filled W I think its Woolich ) in April1937 This could be the shell

3 The propellant lot numbers are RNC 1162 =33 RNC 3385 =9

4 Fld ( Filled ) Bull Point (Plymouth ) November 1941 This I think when the round was assembled

5 Then Linked at CRB (Crombie) October 19?? could be 45

6 The marking under 42 LA am not sure looks like EXD (Examined PHD) Priddys Hard Gosport April 1943 , cant make out the next line except the date September 1943

Hope this info helps as I did not work or come across this round Before my time
