My Uncle was a B-24 pilot in the Pacific during WWII. I was able to walk around the Confederate Air Force B-24 about 20 years ago. The Vertical Stabilizers on the tail are fabric!

I was 10 years old when they built Willow Run on farms. They had to build the first freeways in Michigan to handle the workers and materials that ran the place. It was like a miracle that the place sprang up out of nowhere. The runways became Detroit's major airport after the war and are still running. I doubt we could repeat the feat today.

No, it isn't possible to do. They designed and built the P51 Mustang in one year. They can't even build the liquid fuel rocket motors that they used on the space shuttle, because the older welder guys that welded the Titanium for the manifolds on the burn chamber all retired and no one kept any kind of process records. I heard that from the chief welding Engineer from NASA, a 25 year-old woman.
