A Couple Of 105mm APDS & DS Projectiles

A nice set of 105mm APDS and DS projectiles complete with storage/transport tins. I am just waiting on 4 cases for these and then I will make one of the DS projectiles and one of the APDS projectiles into cutaway examples.

Very nice. Just remember, when you unscrew them to section them the base comes off the WRONG way (unscrews clockwise when you're looking down on the base).
Dave.

Thanks for the tip Dave, I should imagine that the bases are super tight though? so I may have to start cutting before unscrewing to loosen things up. Hopefully I will get the time to cut one of each type soon while waiting for the cases, I intend to cut the cases as well when they arrive and will get photos up when the project is complete.

On the black APDS projectiles around the base is a black rubber piece, my two blue practice projectiles do not have this rubber piece, is this correct or are they missing?

The blue ones should have the rubber sealing rings too, they're often missing though.
Dave.

Thanks for confirming that Dave, I wasn't sure as my knowledge of these things is pretty limited. Hopefully I can get hold of a couple although I doubt there are many spare about.

Hi Darren i tried to get the base off my blue DS prac and its proper tight , i fear if i try anything else it would damage it so just going to leave it . nice find 2 apds and 2 ds with transit containers , i have got a 105x607r shell case with M68 APFSDS-T on the head stamp looks great.
cheers Ken

Yes Ken the base will be very tight, you will not beable to remove it without causing damage. I will be keeping one of each as they are and the other pair i will be making into cutaways when i have the time (sometime soon i hope). I will have to make a couple of cuts to remove a section before i will beable to remove the base part. I can then make the proper final cuts to all pieces and clean up any rough edges etc. Hoping to use the milling machine but the projectile may be too large for my small machine so may have to do these by hand.
