EACH Project

Hello all,

I am a volunteer at the Enham Alamein Community Heritage project in Hampshire and would like some help. Enham was inaugerated as the Village Centres Council in 1918 to help return wounded ex-servicemen to work.

We have a shell case in our collection which was recovered from the ElAlamein battlefield and donated to the Alamein club in Cairo before being donated to Enham post war. Can anyone help shed more light on it. the symbols on the base are as follows:

Starting at the 12o'clock- 6pr 7cwt (presumably meaning it was used by a 6pdr AT gun?)

2o'clock- ECA

3o'clock- CA

4o'clock- CF (possibley qf for quick fire?)

6o'clock- 1942

7o'clock- 3[ordinance crows foot]Q

8o'clock- 127 above ordinance crows foot

9o'clock- LOT

The cap has these inscriptions:

No15 II HQ7/42

Beneath appears:

735
KBY 742Q
[upside down Y]

Can anyone shed some light for us?

Matt
