65 x 494 (approx) case ID help

I have a case that is approximately 65mm x 494mm with a 1908 date and CR marking, similar to some Romanian cases I've seen on the forum. Any ideas?

The marking is actually "GR". The case was made by Georg Roth of Vienna, Austria.

Sorry I can't help you on what type of gun it was for. What is the rim diameter?

Just to double check, is it definitely 65mm and not 75mm?

Definitely 65mm. Rim is approx 87mm

Thanks for the help with the GR marking. The crown marking looks familiar but I can't place it.

The only thing close to it in Robert Hawkinson's list is the 9 Pounder Hotchkiss. This measures 65 x 470R with an 88mm Rim.
