A few photos of some 37mm Austrian Trench Gun rounds in a friends collection.
All inert etc.
They include a couple of the scarce steel cases.

Does anyone have any data on this gun and ammunition?

I have weighed the shell from mine and it comes in at 533 grams empty, so will presumably be around 600 grams filled. What about the muzzle velocity and maximum range? Anything on the gun weight, or a photo?

Thanks for any help.

Take a look at the following:

http://www.heeresgeschichten.at/index.htm Click on ‘Infanterie’ at the top of the page. This takes you to a menu of infantry weapons on the left side of the screen, click on 37 mm Infanteriegeschtz M.15. You will need to use an online translator. There are a number of photos, click on the photos to see an enlarged image.

BOCN forum member 'fert' also helped in a forum discussion concerning Austrian M15 ammunition on forum.worldwar.it some years ago. He might be able to give you some information.

Dave, nice selection of shells. Intrigued by the steel case one and particularly the insert of the cut down Mannlicher case.
Never seen this before and I presume it is done by someone to fill the hole in the base because the Mannlicher primer will
most probably not be powerful enough to ignite the main charge properly.

Jan,

I remember reading a discussion on forum.worldwar.it several years ago on Austrian WW1 ammunition. In that discussion it was pointed out and supported with pictures, that late in WW1 the 8mm Mannlicher cartridge case (I think a cut down case) with powder was used as an ersatz primer in Austrian steel cased 37mm and 47mm ammunition. BOCN member 'fert', if he sees this, should be able to provide information.
