36mm unknown

Yes-Man

New Member
Hi, I bought this as 'paper weight' on a flea market.
Now I'm trying to figure out what it actually is.
Can anyone help?
36mm.jpg
Some information I gathered:
(all values are 'round about'-values)

weight: ~500g (kitchen scale^^)
height: 80mm
diameter: 36mm
distance of the band from the bottom: 9mm
width of the band: 4mm

Any clues?

I would have said 1 pounder 37mm projectile.
Not familiar with the Brass nose?
More pics would be good??
Any markings on base or sides?

photos of side and base will help. There are few, if any, 36mm projectiles. This is more likely a 37mm, of which there are legions. The brass point is probably a plug that someone made up to replace the fuze.

Diameter is 35-36mm (leaning heavily towards 36mm). Saying 37mm would be far to much, I think.

No markings whatsoever.
Base is just plain metal, no thread, no openings, nothing.

a photo perpendicular to the side would help. Hard to judge the aspect ration from an Iso view.

Unusual drive band shape?
Also no evidence of a boroulet?
Makes me wonder if a homemade copy or a trade sample?

I agree with hicky1300. Looks like a home grown item maybe to fill an empty case.Solid shot, not the usual 37mm configuration, brass "fuze" plug, usually zinc bsed in practive, strang, narrow rotating band. If it is real, it does not fit into any group of common or uncommon 37mm projectiles.
