Andy (he of Armoury fame) wanted to see some pictures of .303 inch Pomeroy rounds that I have sent him, but I thought it might be of interest to others.
The Pomeroy Mark I was loaded on Eley Ball Mark VII cases dated either 16 or 17, whilst the Mark II had a unique headstamp of "VIIA.A." and was loaded by Eley and Nobel (M) in 1917 and 18. Generally the bullet of the Mark I tends to be loaded lower into the case than the Mark II.
First picture shows sectioned Brock Mark VIIK, Pomeroy Mark I, Pomeroy Mark II and RTS Explosive. Second shows Brock, Pomeroy Mark I and Pomeroy Mark II. Third is sectioned Mark II, Mark II and Mark II with different shaped warhead. Hope that all makes sense!
Regards
