.303" 'ball' or 'bull'

Had this one for a while now, came to me as a short range gallery round.
I do have doubts about it,firstly it is in a fairly late case to be a gallery round (RG 55 7) and also it has a lead ball loading(with casting cut off still present).
Any .303" gallery round I have seen have been a) much older and b) very round nosed but still bullet shape.
Has anyone else come acroos these before? or putting it politely is it a 'fantasy' piece?

It is somebody's reload for plinking, Tony.

The British Short range rounds were Marks I to IV. the Mark I had a 150 grain semi-round nosed bullet and the others a 188 grain round nosed bullet of different profile to the ordinary ball rounds. Pictures below of a Mark I and a Mark IV.

The Canadian lead bulleted are the other picture, l. to r. Powder Mark I, Smokeless Mark I and II. The Mark II is usually headstamped GP-B. There were also Indian and New Zealand versions of these but are much rarer.

Regards
TonyE
