Hallo,
3,7cm Sprgr 18 FES had iron driving band instead of two copper bands to save copper. New barrels of 3,7cm Flak 18,36 and 37 marked "K" could not use projectiles with two copper driving bands. Flak 43 could use only the FES ammo.
So what is wrong on Your projectile? The fuze.

Bob

You have a 50mm mortar fuze on your projectile. You need one of these:
3,7 cm Kpf. Z. Zerl. P.v.
3,7 cm Kpf. Z. Zerl. Fg.

Thanks all you guys who have helped ! I thought the fuze looked wrong , fortunately , I have one of the correct fuzes so I can replace it .

Hallo Sigfried,
EOD and Slick are correct.
This projectile could also have Zerl.Z.16,Zerl.Z 20, KZ 20 or ZZ 21. The projectile could be used in 3,7cm Bordkanone.

Bob

Bob, if KZ20 then the projectile would be loaded onto a naval 37x250R C/36 case.

To make it complete we need to add the Zerl. Z. 18 then for use with the 37x265B Flak 18 case.

Hello Siegfreid,
I have another question, what the marking of the fuze whose currently on your projo ?

If I read good, it is WgrZ68R. is that correct ?

Yoda

Hallo,
@EOD: my source (Handbuch der Deutschen Znder des II Weltkrieges) says the K.Z. 20 was used in 3,7 and 5cm Bordkanone ammunition.
I have no information on Zerl Z.18. Could You help me out here, please?
@Sigfried You need a mortar round for Your fuze 5 or 8 cm

Bob

Bob is that a Wehrmacht-publication?

I have seen the "18" mentioned in a German report, do not recall which one.

Hallo.
No, this is a modern book, I have just electronic version.
The authors name is not there, just Wuppertal, Januar 1997.
I would like to have a hardcopy of this book.

Bob

This book is not available for years and it was a private publication in small scale. The author is registered here. The info on the KZ20 there needs to be updated I think.
