The case was made by 'MQ' S.A.A.F. Rocklea, Queensland, Australia. In 1942
It has only been filled once, with a full charge.
The primer is a No 1 Mark II made by 'WR' – Westinghouse Roseberry Ltd. South Australia. In January ‘43
The primer was filled by ‘MY’ – Filling and Pyrothecnic Factory, St. Mary’s, NSW. The ‘Q’ signifies the primer is suitable for use in Quick firing ammunition.
The large ‘E’ on the side of the case signifies the type of propellant, which in this case is either Cordite W or WM in cord or tube
The little ‘WM’ could be specifying the exact type of cordite (see above)
I suspect there is another character after the ‘M’ (lower left) as this would be the monogram of the filling station e.g. ‘My’ The Australian government factories used a two letter code ‘M*’
