My mate found a 20x145R Bofors case with headstamp 99286009. No other markings. Is it possible to say when it was made? Case has a Boxer primer.

It was made in 1986 (lot 009) for Sweden and is suspected to be from Lapua. Unfortunately the code 992 is not confirmed yet.

Thanks EOD, My mate also suspected Lapua but I was suspiceous as this is quite big case for their machinery.

There are Lapua catalogs showing the 20x145R M40, 20x110 HS 404 and 20x120 Madsen cases. So they must have done something in this direction + all known cases of these came from Finland. In addition there are "Swedish" 20x110 HS 404 cases from the same maker.

Thanks EOD. Post war ammo is not my field and therefore I don't have much information of them. If you have the mentioned casetypes, would it possible to send photos of headstamps, I would save it in my records.

A few pics of the WW2 bofors 20mm case and the later 20mm(i believe a sub cal?). Anybody got any spare projectiles for these?
Also a copy of the Lapua brochure, ref.20mm cases.

Thanks Kahu1, the Lapua brochure is very interesting. Would like to see headstamps of the Lapua made HS and Madsen cases.

Your bofors cases, the left one looks like made by Lapua in 1981, the right one is Swedish Bofors made. I can't clearly see dates on the Bofors but is is 40 and primer 42?

20x110 HS404 are reported as late as 2001 made by 992. I do not own these, I merely collect information rather than hardware.
I actually have never seen a 20x120 Madsen case which could be positively attributed to Lapua but would not wonder since Finnish companies made these before and tools might have been kept in stock.

The "semi rimmed" case was indeed for subcaliber barrels called "Tubkanon" (bore gun) in Swedish. These were still in use long after the original M40 gun became obsolete.

EOD,
Do you know which projectile was used in "Tubkanon"? I have some mysterious modern Finnish 20mm projectiles and some of them might fit on the case.
