Thought I would share some pics of my 2 pounder drill round. I got this 28 years ago when i was 13, HELL how time flies!! I got it for 5 all the money i had at the time. shame as the junk shop had 2 a pair would have looked good, but I still think it's ace, so money well spent. I've never seen another one, so are they rare?

I'll say money well spent. That round is just awesome. Something about the wooden drill rounds do it for me. Well done and thanks for sharing....Dano

Hi Mark
they are a bit rare they tend to stay in colections and not get sold too often the last one i spoted for sale was about three months ago at 40 it was cheap at that price and not as good as yours.

Yeah, just gotta love the wooden ones.......years ago I was fortunate enough to have a wooden (with some metal bits) 3.7" AA drill round! Now that was a BIG round.

Sorry no pics - just memories.......
Cheers

Hell Drew a 3.7 AA thats a big wooden drill round, I've got a 3.7 AA case but never been able to find the projectile to go in it.

It's a pity you are not closer as I just sold mine one last year........

Actually there was a recent auction in Sydney and a 3.7" case was sold - haven't seen one those in years....
(not sure how much as I only bidding on the Japanese swords )

Cheers

Thanks Drew it would have been ace to pop over and look at your collection.whot is the shell on the left in the pic?

Hi the largest wood and brass drill rounds i have ever seen are the Bat rounds, they are monsters and were put up for disposal around 10 to 15 years ago for about 30 each at the time. not seen one for sale for some time though.

HI Mark,

The round on the left is a 4.5" with a carrier projectile (for the 4.5" Mark 3 Gun? from memory) - the top has the remains (threaded section) of the fuse stuck in - I did have intentions to at one stage to "cold chisel" it out and replace it with a complete one.....

I intend to post in my gallery, photos of my "Ex-Collection" (as I only collect fuses now). I started to scan some old photos, but need a little more time to sort out the scans, then start to re-photograph and organise the fuses.
Cheers
Drew
