This is a Ray Meketa question he'd answer instantly. Unfortunately, he is no longer with us. So, why does it say not to use this ammo in a magazine feed?
I really don't know, but I suspect the restriction is due to the projectile being lightly crimped in the case, which could result in the projectiles being displaced during loading and recoil. Or not.
Some thoughts after a little research and remembering - Match ammo is loaded to higher standards. Consistency in all things bullets is paramount to accuracy. Crimp is one of the variables. I know a few folks that reload for accuracy who do a lot of measuring before they're happy. A light, consistent crimp helps grease things along. No sealed, cannalure crimp for those guys.
Slick has the correct answer. When loading Match ammunition the overall length of the cartridge may also differ from normal military rounds. Match ammunition is frequently loaded a bit longer and so, may not function through the magazine.
The standard .308 155gr bullet would require close to 3000fps to be accurate at 1000yds range (Palma ranges are 800yds, 900 & 1000yds from memory) and at that velocity risk a bullet "blowing up" in mid-flight - thereby throwing away 10 competition points.
Instead, heavy bullets (up around ~200 /210gr) are preferred at lower velocities to reduce that risk, however to be used "effectively" requires the chamber to have a longer throat.............
The box you posted is for 190gr, which it on the heavier side (longer bullet) and probably won't "fit" into a standard mag.
Some hand loaders seat the bullet so that there is only a couple of mm gap when the bullet is inserted into the mag.
Why?
To reduce the "gap" (i.e. distance jump) between the bullet and the lands - in theory providing more consistency = accuracy.
