A recent acquisition,this 12pdr carcass,an incendiary type projectile used for starting fires on ships and buildings,
this type used from 1860.The steel sleeve that would have contained fuze composition still in position,but cannot be
completely removed because of flange on inside end,as can be seen in second photo.
First photo taken after burnishing to remove surface rust and then oiling.
A nice early rare item.
