Hi anyone have a spare threaded metal adaptor for the 100grm Bohrpatrone 28 charge also used in the 200 grm charge. I beleive they were cast into the charge during manufacture rather than inserted before use.
Yes, they were cast in the charge. I have seen them made of bakelite and aluminium. Possibly other materials were used as well.
I have turned such ones of aluminium bar for my replica charges. As they are below wrapping paper nobody can see if they are original or not.
I think they were more a rule than exception in charges, those without connector thread have often their pocket closing label marked o.V. for "ohne Verbindung" ( without connection ).
I am after one so i to can copy it to make a few replicas which i am short of. You don't happen to have the sizes and measurements of the adaptor.
I have seen the thick black bakalite adaptors incorperating the det pocket that has an outside thread, under the flange also seen fitten on the Topfmine. Were the o.v charges pre threaded to take these or was the charge soft enough for the thread to screw in easily.
Unfortunately all my originals and replicas are in inert charges and covered with labels so I can't send a picture. What I turned from solid aluminium bar was a flanged boss with 12mm diameter and 10mm long cylindrical boss ( goes inside the charge ) and a 22mm diameter 0,5mm thick flange in one end. M10x1 thread then thru the whole thing.
In some original charges the flange has been sunk inside the block on surface level but in some it has been on top of the surface. If you sink it it becomes nicer but you have to choose final flange diameter according to sink drill you have to make the cavity.
I think outside thread in bakelite adapters has been only for better hold in casting. They have thicker flange which in all specimens that I have seen have been sunk in block.
o.V. marked charges have had only a narrow cavity to take #8 blasting cap. Further the explosives block is so hard and brittle that I don't think it has been possible to screw in an adapter later on.
Thanks Reino for the information and measurements, much appreaciated. Interesting topic in itself.
As for lables what is the correct labling for the 200 and 100 grm charges with the above metal type adaptors and what would an o.v lable look like.
