I am trying to make myself 3d-printed QF 13-pdr shrapnel and HE shells to complete my WW1 display.
I have the original fuzes and cartridge casings, so I only need dimensions for the body. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate a proper plan, so I had to make do with inaccurate drawings...
Hello,
In attachment, you can find the pictures of a WW1 fuze N°83 II.
In the fixed ring, there is a small screw, see the red arrows in the pictures.
Under this small screw there is a small spring situated also. In the right picture, you can see these two parts separated from the fixed ring...
Hi, Just joined after my 1st visit to the Somme b/fields. I need help identifying a transit plug I picked up.
First, a basic question - what is the correct name? Are they transit plugs, transport plugs or what? I've been told these took the place of the fuse on artillery shells until they were...
Okay, so, I bought this No. 80 Mk VI fuze from an 'antiques centre' yesterday and I'm having regrets already! It is the first and only fuze I have ever bought and thought (a little naively) that they were perfectly safe due to the amount I have seen on sale in all kinds of places. Anyway, I have...
Hello all!
I'm still trying to get the feel of this site, so please excuse me if this question has been asked/answered before. I acquired a No. 16 fragmentation grenade marked with the initialsw DL inside of a diamond, and under that is the date 1915. It has its base plug, and screwed into...
The 76.2mm cartridge was mainly used in captured Russian guns which could not be bored out to take the standard German 77mm round. Later examples were mounted for Anti-Aircraft duties.

Hi all. Looks like a great site and I am new to collecting so would like to pick your brains please. I bought this at a recent fair and I am hoping it's genuine. An M1916 I think. It has a crimped on lid which appears to have had 2 holes made in top ( to remove explosive?). The head may have...
Trying to identify this (assumed to be) ammunition box. As you can see its dated 1916 but I can't find out what the other markings donate. The top of the box has a large copper sliding lock with a nut in the centre. This turns and the copper slide moves along the lid and locks into the four...
Can anyone advise if the manufacturer mark FN in a circle for Fritz Neumeyer were used by Fritz Neumeyer exclusively for German ordnance ? See attached pics of an 8.0cm we just received with the FN marks.
I have seen a few brass cartridges recently with FN in a circle listed as "Belgian"...
Can anyone correctly ID this 15cm shell ? I think it is a WW1 German APC or APCBC. Its clearly missing the ballistics cap and the base plate. Any help would be much appreciated.
Hi All, hope you had a good Christmas and Santa bought you some interesting ordnance
This pair of RML shells turned up in the store before Christmas and are giving us a hard time with ID
Approx dimensions are 86mm diameter - 175mm tall - weight 4.5kg ( or in old money 31/2" diameter - 7" tall...
This nice little 18pdr was in a large collection we recently acquired. The base of the brass case has no marks anywhere. Judging by the lack of primer and un-fired condition of the projectile we were thinking either a training round, unfinished production item or maybe just one that got missed...
Picked up this little beauty the other day. This has to be the cleanest 18pdr I have seen in a long while. Not like the usual rusty ground dug ones doing the rounds.
I would think this was picked up soon after firing judging by the condition and lack of corrosion.
