According to the base of the case this is a 4.5" Mk6 case. The 5.25" was a low angle ship mounted AA gun of WW2 vintage. The case had a distinctive screw thread for marrying the projectile to the case when they came up from their separate magazines for firing. I have a 4.5 Mk5 5 case which has the similar screw thread arrangement and a 4.5 Mk8, which is QF fixed.
