hi guys found this video link i tried it out it works brillianly on any rusty item i used it on relic shells i will also try it on spotters shell in the for sale section if he brings the price down a few thousand ? :xd:

I have used the electrolytic rust removal method to clean up many items, not just militaria and I can highly recommend it. On heavily rusted items it leaves deep pitting but generally the rust does not reappear if you dry and oil the item afterwards. Be careful on items made up of more than one metal, (eg. a shell with a zinc alloy fuze) just in case the process corrodes the non ferrous part.

took one of my shells out today looks great i can now read the stamps on the shell its like new

I tryed yesterday with an old computer power supply and some rusty items I have.

But do you know another system to remove black result (without soda) ?

i put my shells in a bucket of coka cola to remove the black residue
it worked fine ? anything slighly acidic lemon juice

do it only so!

as in video is to be seen I do this always only one must take for it car battery charger with minimum 8 amp and at the plus cable must be stainless steel !!!

I do not point like one says on in English in germany we say elektrolyse.

very good point Pascal ?
i think the best way is plastic tub with costic soda battery live side to steel bar and battery neutral side to item being derusted
but this still produces poisones gasses i do this in my outbuilding with door open ?
this works for me .
but sometimes i get things wrong ? especialy with grenades :tinysmile_angry2_t:

I'm not a chemist, I only share with you this (useful) information I read. I do the same thing than you, but now without stainless steel and, of course, I be carefull !!
